Maki believes in the joy a healthy lifestyle can bring. Her passion for fitness started at a young age. As early as five she competed in swimming, baseball, softball, basketball, and volleyball. In high school she found her passion for swimming. She competed at the National level and received a full athletic scholarship to swim in college. After a serious shoulder injury sidelined her, she began to educate herself on ways to prevent injury and how an athlete’s mental state is affected by such trauma. Maki currently holds a position as a the Head Coach at Normandy Park Swim Club and is a part-time Assistant Coach at Seattle University.
